Tajikistan Travel
Tajikistan is located on the south tip of the former Soviet Union. If you like to hike, backpack, enjoy climbing mountains, horseback riding, and enjoy the solitude of a remote area, Tajikistan has much to offer the traveler. The culture and history of Tajikistan of Sogdian civilization and the country’s Islamic religion is fascinating. Once scarred with a civil war, Tajikistan is now stable and safe to travel too. The climate of Tajikistan is subtropical and depending on the elevation the temperatures can change drastically. Tajikistan is extremely hot during the summer months of June to September. An average temperature can get over 40 degrees Celsius. During Spring of March to May, the temperatures are more mild and comfortable, but it frequently rains.
The economy of Tajikistan is determined by agriculture and livestock production. Two thirds work in agriculture while many of the residents are employed in Russia or other countries. Over half of the population of Tajikistan lives in poverty. Most of the products that are produced through agriculture are wheat, fruit, barley, cotton, vegetables, and mulberry trees. Livestock that are raised are sheep, goats, dairy cattle, and yaks. Many of the mountains have deposits of gold, zinc, uranium, silver, lead, antimony, coal, mercury and salt. The mining of these products have decreased considerably, since the collapse of the economy.
During the months of March, April, September and October is the best time to travel to Tajikistan. It is a scenic country with a lifestyle of its own. As a traveler you will feel that you have gone back in time, reliving what was once so long ago.
